Anthem by SuperChick

What the woman that posted this wrote:
Vid to Anthem by Superchic[k]. Women are constantly looked down upon by society,
well, men in general. Women are looked at as weak, and not as good as men. This
proves that wrong. Women are strong, powerful, and just as good as men.
Women/Girls also need to realize that they are. They need to know that noone can
tell them who they are or what they can and can't do. They are their own person.
And they also must realize that having a guy/being in a relationship is not
everything. That's what the video clips are to show. Too many times girls/women
get into relationships that are harmful to them, etc. We need to stand up for
yourselves, not give up, and never give in.

What I have to say:
This song has become my theme song. I put it on repeat as I rollerblade to and from the bus. I have playing loudly as I walk past the glares and glances I face on campus everyday. It is a reminder not to give up, not to look down on myself simply because others do. As Micah would say, I am royalty. What they think, it doesn't matter. This is obviously easier said than done for me, but with every breath God reaffirms what I know and the fire inside me grows. I'm not the "perfect girl." I'm not the "perfect Christian." Let's face it. I'm not perfect. But I am me and being the me that our Creator worked out every detail of is enough. "You'll never let them say 'You'll never get that far.'" Here's to taking it to new heights.

  • Amen sister! Ironically, I have adopted "Anthem" as my theme song too! They show the strength that we all have within us but sometimes gets hidden down deep inside by, not only society, but our own self-criticism as well!
We have some great examples of how we are to be by the awesome women of the Bible but we put a lot of pressure on ourselves to measure up. God has made us special in so many ways and sometimes we forget that! We can't even come close to the perfection of Jesus but we can keep striving to live as he lived and KNOW that He made us in His image! I've heard many times - we were made in His image and God doesn't make any mistakes!
By the way, also check out Barlowgirl's "Why can't we be Silent". It has some awesome messages as well, for us as women and as Christians!
    Blessings! Rock on sista!
